Hero-Understanding Beowulf

Heroes has always been a common theme in stories, it's always a fight between good versus evil. In Beowulf the same theme is occurring. A major role that Beowulf plays is that it is the foundation of the English language we know today. In today's times we think of heros that are concerned about others and do what's right. Typically people today don't have to have a lineage of people that were great. That's the exact opposite of how it was in the old English time period. To be somebody back then they had to have a list of extraordinary things they did and people that they come from. To good was to only add to the list of great things they have done, not because they actually wanted to.
It doesn't matter how strong somebody is or how smart they are. They just have to want to do good things for people which makes them a hero to me. Strong people can have the ability to do certain physical abilities others can't; if they just want to do good to make themselves look better them that makes them selfish. There are also some people so brilliant, but they don't want to use their intellect to help others. It takes some one who has good morals, selflessness, courage, and qualities such as those to be heros.
